Gerardo Fornataro
Was born in Matera in 1978.
He got graduated in Photography at the Advanced Institute of Photography and Visual Arts in Padua.
He mostly
deals with an experimental shooting,
focused on using the digital technology and linked instruments.
It is
exactly from the usage of the new means that new works come out,
these are characterised by going beyond natural and sensory limits,
which are typical of the Analogical shooting, here we have also the creation
of a new metaphysical dimension
typical of the new International terms in photography.
In 2006/2007
He won the prize "Pagine Bianche d'Autore" for Basilicata.
In 2008 he is selected to take part to workshops made by photographers
Ferdinando Scianna of MAGNUM PHOTOS and Giovanni Chiaramonte.
Some
of his pictures have been awarded in important National and International
photography competitions,
and he also took part to personal and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad.

Nasce a Matera nel 1978.
Si diploma in Fotografia presso l'Istituto Superiore di Fotografia e Arti Visive di Padova.
Si occupa prevalentemente
di fotografia di ricerca,
orientata verso l'utilizzo della tecnologia digitale e
degli strumenti collegati.
E' proprio dall'utilizzo
del nuovo mezzo che nascono i suoi lavori,
caratterizzati dal superamento dei confini naturalistici e sensoriali,
tipici dell'analogico, e dall'affermarsi di una nuova dimensione metafisica,
tipica dei nuovi linguaggi fotografici internazionali.
Predilige la
fotografia di architettura e di ritratto.
E' ammesso a seguire i workshop di "Senigallia Fotografia" con il
fotografo
Ferdinando Scianna della MAGNUM PHOTOS.
Segue i corsi del Terni Jazz Festival specializzandosi in fotografia musicale.
Sue foto sono state premiate in importanti concorsi nazionali
e internazionali di fotografia, ha partecipato a mostre personali e collettive
in Italia e all'estero.
